By: Dr.Weka Gunawan

VITAMIN C

Vitamin C is a well-known antioxidant. It is necessary for the formation of collagen and tissue repair. So, many women love vitamin C and think that a larger dose vitamin C is a better for their beauty. They even bravely asked Vitamin C injection to beautician to white their skin! I hope this information make you take vitamin C carefully.

Vitamin C deficiency may lead to scurvy with the following symptoms: swollen and bleeding gums, loose teeth, delayed healing of wounds, capillary hemorrhages, petechial spots on skin and poor formation of bones!
Vitamin C 500mg is recommended daily allowance for adults and children 4 years and above (US RDA:US).

Although Vitamin C is not store in the body and the extra will be excreted in the urine, do not take more than the recommended daily dosage. Why? Because a high dose of vitamin C will be aroused: diarrhea, redness of skin, headache, nausea and vomiting. If those still persist hurry up go to your doctor. Then, for patients with renal failure (or disease) there is a risk of stone forming in the urinary tract.

DRUG INTERACTIONS
As a doctor, I really care to give explanation to my clients. Vitamin C cannot take with these reagents: deferoxamine, barbiturates, primidone, salicylates, cellulose sodium phosphate and disulfiram.
HOW TO STORE VITAMIN C?

You must know that vitamin C is so sensitive to light and temperature more than 30 Celcius degree. So keep container tightly and it would be perfect, you just put the container inside the box or refrigerator.

A stressful lifestyle can leave our energy strapped, and being short on time makes it even harder to prepare high-energy foods. Try eats these foods.

 Carb Rich Foods
Healthy snacks, such as a slice of wholemeal toast, can help boost your levels of serotonin, a calming brain chemical.

 Chocolate
Recharge with a few dark chocolate squares, which UK researchers say have the mood and energy boosting stimulants caffeine and theobromine. I love chocolate very much! I put a lot inside my refrigerator. It is really works!

 FLUID FILLED FOODS
Studies show that athletes deprived of fluids and fluid-rich foods felt fatigued and suffered lapses in memory. For energy, choose water rich snacks and fresh produce over dry packaged foods like pretzels and chips. Foods that swell when cooked like pasta and oatmeals, are also smart picks.

I like traveling. It is great to fill holiday with going anywhere by plane. I really enjoyed to spent my time in Jayapura, Merauke and Timika in Papua Island, or quite beaches in Lombok Island or East Semenanjung Malaysia or go far to west such as Europe..
I will give you all Tips to keep our skin feel healthy when traveling.

1. BEFORE THE TRIP
The night, before, be sure to fill up your skin’s moisture tank with an ultra hydrating serum, you can try Zaitun (Olive) Oil. That’s able to keep skin soft , supple and ready for your flight! Drink much water, fruit juices and take vitamins.

2. ON THE PLANE
Since there’s an airport regulation on the amount of liquid allowed onboard, I recommend you petroleum jelly. You buy it at pharmacist store like Guardian or Watson. Pour it to your face and hand and your legs as well. In board you should not to take coffee, tea or liquor! Just drink juices and mineral water.

3. AFTER TOUCH DOWN
Soothe the skin with a mask with purifying properties. You can try any brands of masks. Local brands are also amazing. I used mask from Mustika Ratu, Sari Ayu and Viva. The result of those are awesome! So do not hesitate to try our local brands.

 Pap Smear: This test should be done yearly for the first two PapSmears. This is to reduce the likelihood of missing a significant change within the cervix. Subsequently, the frequency of smear may depend on what the doctor feels the patient’s risk of developing cervical disease is and may be frequent as every six months or as infrequent as once every three years.

 Pelvic Exam: this test usually done at the same time as the pap smear, unless there are other reasons why this may be required, such as fibroids or abnormal vaginal bleeding. If this is the case, then you may need more examination.
