A List of important tests for your body and how often you need to have them.
Blood glucose test: If you have diabetes in your family history, you are recommended to do this test at least once in 6 months.
Blood Pressure test: It should be done from age 30 or earlier, if you found that there is a history of high blood pressure in your family or you experienced high blood pressure during pregnancy. You must notice not only high blood pressure but also low blood pressure. Ask your doctor if you do not understand clearly.
Cholesterol Test: it should be taken after the age of 30, or earlier if there are significant risk factors. The test may then be done on a two to three year interval if readings are normal. But on a more regular basis if the patient requires treatment.
Dental Exam: It should be done yearly or twice a year. Listen your dentist’s recommendation. Just go to a general dentist, she will give you to specialist if you need special treatment.
Pap Smear: This test should be done yearly for the first two PapSmears. This is to reduce the likelihood of missing a significant change within the cervix. Subsequently, the frequency of smear may depend on what the doctor feels the patient’s risk of developing cervical disease is and may be frequent as every six months or as infrequent as once every three years.
Pelvic Exam: this test usually done at the same time as the pap smear, unless there are other reasons why this may be required, such as fibroids or abnormal vaginal bleeding. If this is the case, then you may need more examination.
